Still today an expression of the best-selling single malt in the world, the plebeian Glenfiddich.

We taste a traffic jam from their “Cask Collection” series, the Select Cask. Each was used in the composition of this whiskey is carefully selected by the master distiller, Brian Kinsman before being transferred to a vat at Solera, just like the 15 year old.

As the American journalist, writer and screenwriter put it so well Benjamin MacKinlay Kantor (1904-1977) said so well:

It gets really bad when you start looking like your ID card photo…

Nose:
Cream, green apples and soft cereals, with a hint of alcohol. Peppery dry oak, clementines and peaches, even nectarine.

Taste:
Apple pie, cinnamon, brown sugar, spices, oak, raisins and nuts. Not mean, but a little too diffuse and aggressive for my taste. Any texture. Tip of red wine.

Finish:
Spices and wood envelop us in their warmth, then leave us with a little wave of pepper and dried orange peel.

Balance:
A good scotch anyway, but a Glenfiddich who seems to be looking for his identity.
